Liberty clinic with Adrian Heinen, day 1 (07/06/2013)

1st day of Liberty clinic with Adrian Heinen. Beside perfect weather it was a nice start into a 2 day Liberty clinic with Adrian Heinen in Egringen (Southwest of Germany). All students and their horses arrived sound as well as the auditors.
Everybody introduced her- and himself and the individual goals they have in the Savvy Liberty with their horse.
First part of the day was mainly about testing the basics (Friendly game, Porcupine game, Driving game) and creating draw. Step by step the focus was more and more playing on line as if you are liberty.
After lunchbreak a Roundpen was ready to play liberty as if you are on line ;-)

It was great to see everybody playing with their horses liberty. I was impressed by every student, putting the relationship 1st and having great results as for some of them it was the 1st time being liberty with their horse.

I am very happy to assist the clinic by mainly observing, it is a great opportunity to watch every student and discovering former or current challenges!
When you put away the halter only the truth remains. The truth means how good are your basics (7 games, 4 phases). Being aware where to be, when to be, why to be there, what to do when you get there and when to quit what you are doing.
What I really learned today is the understanding of "It is not about what you do when your horse leaves but what you do, when your horse comes back to you". It's not a problem when the horse leaves, there is still a savety net by having the round pen. Set-it up for success. By improving horsemanship skills, the round-pen is getting bigger and bigger until -one day- the round-pen is not needed anymore as it will be replaced by a solid relationship and strong connection between horse and human.
Liberty is the ultimate test of it!

Here are some impressions of the day 1:
